Former Arkansas head football coach Bobby Petrino is interesting in coaching at Kentucky, his father told the Louisville Courier-Journal.

The feeling isn’t mutual, according to a CBSsports.com report.

“I just know this, that he’s interested in Kentucky,” Bobby Petrino Sr. told the Courier-Journal. “He wants to stay in the SEC. That was his life’s goal was to go to the SEC.”

The location isn’t as important as getting Petrino Jr., who was fired amid a scandal at Arkansas, back on the sidelines.

“I know he wants a job; he needs a job,” Petrino Sr. told the paper. “He told me, ‘I need a job, Dad.’ I said, ‘Well, you must still have some money. You made 3-and-a-half million dollars.’ And he said, ‘Yeah, I do. It’s not the money.’ He just misses coaching so much.”

Petrino has led Arkansas to appearances in the Sugar and Cotton Bowl in 2010 and 2011, respectively.

He was fired in April for “knowingly misleading” athletic director Jeff Long about a relationship with Jessica Dorrell, who he hired for a position within the football program.
