Florida cornerback CJ Henderson made it known on Friday that he will forgo his final year of eligibility to enter the 2020 NFL Draft.

Announcing his decision on Twitter, the 6-foot-1 junior added that he will skip the Gators’ bowl game, wherever it is played.

“I am truly blessed to be in this position,” he wrote on Twitter. “The best part about being a Gator is that they will be there for me the rest of my life. … I will miss that feeling of running out of The Swamp on Saturday to 90,000 strong, but I know the Gator Nation is behind me. I am excited to be one step closer to turning my lifelong dream into reality. Go Gators!”

Missing three games due to an ankle ailment, Henderson totaled 33 tackles and 11 pass breakups in nine games this season for the 10-2 Gators. In three seasons, he had six interceptions (returning two for touchdowns as a freshman), 93 tackles, four sacks and 20 pass breakups.

His weaknesses this season included allowing five pass completions of 40 or more yards.

Draft prognosticators still expect Henderson to be a first-round selection based on his experience and ball skills, with ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. currently having him go as the 17th overall pick.
