Florida wide receiver Kadarius Toney is expected to return for next week’s game against 10th-ranked Georgia, coach Dan Mullen said Wednesday.
Toney has been sidelined with a left shoulder injury sustained in the first quarter of the Gators’ 45-0 romp over Tennessee-Martin on Sept. 7.
The versatile junior returned to practice this week for seventh-ranked Florida, which hosts the Bulldogs on Nov. 2.
“He’s a playmaker,” Mullen said Wednesday on the weekly SEC coaches’ call. “He’s an explosive guy when he gets the ball in his hands, so having that back … obviously, the more playmakers you can put on the field, the better you are, the harder you are to defend, the more explosive you can be. So I think it will be great to get him back out there.”
Toney has three receptions for 72 yards and a touchdown this season. In his two previous seasons, he made 40 catches for 412 yards and one touchdown.
