PLAYERS TO WATCH

–WR Kadarius Toney showed his versatile skill-set in the 13-6 win over Mississippi State, rushing two times for 20 yards, making one catch for nine yards, and accounting for UF’s lone TD on a 20-yard TD pass to TE Moral Stephens. Recruited to Florida as a dual-threat QB, Toney took a lateral screen pass from QB Feleipe Franks and instead of running with the ball found Stephens open in the end zone. Florida coaches are trying to find more ways to get the ball in Toney’s hands due to his speed and ability to make tacklers miss in the open field.

–RB Lamical Perine had a team-high 55 yards rushing on 10 carries and added two catches for 24 yards against Mississippi State. The 5-foot-11, 227-pound Perine is Florida’s best pass-catcher out of the field and will be counted on for more carries as the season progresses.

–S Donovan Stiner came up with the play that finished the game for the Gators against Mississippi State, a sack on a blitz on 4th-and-10. Stiner finished with two tackles in the game.

–DL Jachai Polite continued his breakout season with two sacks against Mississippi State. For the season, Polite has 18 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, four sacks, two pass breakups and three forced fumbles.

SERIES HISTORY: Florida leads LSU 32-20-3. The Tigers have won six of the last eight meetings between the two teams. The last four games between the two schools have been decided by seven points or less.

QUOTE TO NOTE: “We got to go out there and produce and have our own legacy out there and just continue to add to the greats like those who were here before.” — Florida defensive back Chauncey Gardner-Johnson, on the Gators facing LSU on the day they will honor the 2008 BCS national title team and induct Tim Tebow into the Ring of Honor.
