Georgia freshman defensive lineman Bill Norton was arrested early Sunday morning on three alcohol-related charges, according to Athens Clarke-County police records.
The charges, all misdemeanors, were DUI, failure to maintain lane/improper driving on the road and possession of alcohol under 21 years of age.
Total bond was set at $2,500 for all three charges, and he posted bond and was released about 90 minutes after being booked.
Norton, rated as the nation’s No. 9 strongside defensive end on the 247Sports composite rankings, committed to the Bulldogs in March 2018. Georgia held on to his pledge after Norton’s home-state school, Tennessee, made a late effort to bring the 6-foot-6 lineman on board.
He was expected to be redshirted this season and wasn’t scheduled to travel to Vanderbilt, where the Bulldogs open their season on Saturday night.
