No. 4 Georgia jumped out to a 10-0 first-quarter lead and never looked back in its 27-6 dismantling of No. 7 Auburn in Athens last Saturday night. With their impressive performance, the Bulldogs are Lindy’s Team of the Week.

Junior Stetson Bennett passed for 240 yards and a touchdown and secured his hold on the team’s starting quarterback position with another quality performance.

Bennett helped set up Georgia’s first touchdown after he escaped pressure on a 3rd-and-10 and fired a 17-yard strike to sophomore wideout Kearis Jackson, which moved the UGA offense to the Auburn 15-yard line.

Five plays later, the Bulldogs took a 7-0 lead on a 1-yard scoring run by sophomore tailback Zamir White. White finished the game with 19 carries for 88 yards and two scores.

Georgia’s defense, which dominated the Tigers offense, limited Auburn to two three-and-outs on its first two possessions. Georgia added a field goal following the second three-and-out after an 11-play, 59-yard drive to the Tigers 4-yard line.

Sophomore wideout George Pickens put the Bulldogs up 17-0 early in the second quarter when he hauled in a 21-yard grab from Bennett with 11:08 remaining in the half. Pickens finished with two catches for 26 yards.

The Bulldogs defense limited Auburn’s offense to 216 total yards. The most glaring mismatch was along the line of scrimmage. Georgia had 202 yards rushing, while Auburn had just 39. The Bulldogs defense also harassed Bo Nix all night long and forced him to make several off-balance throws that resulted in incompletions.

Nix completed 21 of 40 passes for 177 yards and an interception. He was sacked three times.

“They played about as good as they could play, and we played about the worst we could play, and it showed on the field,” Nix said. “We just got beat.”

Junior linebacker Adam Anderson had two tackles and two sacks for the Bulldogs. Senior linebacker Monty Rice led Georgia with seven tackles, including six solo. Sophomore linebacker Azeez Ojulari had five tackles, including three for loss, and a sack.

Junior nose tackle Jordan Davis, who played a major role in Auburn’s struggles running the football, had four tackles.
