Georgia star running back D’Andre Swift announced Friday that he is bypassing his senior season and declaring for the NFL draft.

Swift is projected to a first-round pick and will possibly be the first running back to hear his name on draft day.

He announced his decision on Twitter.

“The time has now come for me to pursue another dream of mine, which is to enter the 2020 NFL Draft,” Swift wrote. “My family and I have spent a considerable time determining what’s best for me, I will be forgoing my senior year and I’m excited for what the future holds.”

Swift rushed for over 1,000 yards in each of the past two seasons, including 1,218 this season. He rushed for seven touchdowns and also caught 24 passes for 216 yards and one score.

Overall, the 5-foot-9, 215-pound Swift rushed for 2,885 yards and 20 touchdowns and caught 73 passes for 666 yards and five scores.

The rushing yardage ranks seventh in Georgia history.

Swift had just six touches over the final two games due to a shoulder injury.
