Harvard offensive lineman Liam Shanahan joined LSU as a graduate transfer on Tuesday, Tigers head coach Ed Orgeron announced in a press release.

Shanahan, who has one year of eligibility remaining, was an All-Ivy League first-team selection last season, playing in all 10 games for the third consecutive year, primarily at guard.

Shanahan, who was listed by Harvard at 6-foot-5 and 270 pounds, is eligible to play immediately.

LSU must replace four of the five starting offensive linemen on last year’s national championship team.

Right guard Damien Lewis (Seattle Seahawks) and center Lloyd Cushenberry (Denver Broncos) went in the third round of the NFL draft over the weekend, and left tackle Saahdiq Charles went in the fourth round to the Washington Redskins. Left guard Adrian Magee signed with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent.

Right tackle Austin Deculus will be back for his senior season.
