Texas high school quarterback Garrett Nussmeier committed to LSU as part of the Tigers’ recruiting class of 2021.

The son of former New Orleans Saints quarterback Doug Nussmeier, Garrett is entering his senior season at Marcus High School in Flower Mound, Texas.

Texas, Baylor, North Carolina, Texas Tech, Texas A&M and Penn State were also under consideration from Nussmeier.

Garrett Nussmeier received early interest from LSU, where the staff includes Scott Linehan. Linehan is in his first season as LSU passing game coordinator, replacing Joe Brady, and was offensive coordinator in 1992-93 when Doug Nussmeier was a star quarterback at Idaho.

Doug Nussmeier is currently the quarterbacks coach of the Dallas Cowboys.

As a junior, Garrett Nussmeier had 38 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He’s ranked 103rd on the 247 recruiting composite.
