LSU linebacker Marcel Brooks has entered the NCAA transfer database, 247Sports.com reported.

A five-star member of the Tigers’ 2019 recruiting class, Brooks played in 11 games as a true freshman last season with the undefeated national champions. He had eight tackles and 1.5 sacks.

According to the report, “Brooks had a conversation with LSU’s staff on Friday morning before making his decision to enter the portal.”

If Brooks does decide to leave LSU, he would have to sit out the 2020 season under NCAA transfer rules barring a waiver.

A native of Flower Mound, Texas, Brooks was ranked as the No. 2 outside linebacker in the nation in the 2019 class by the 247Sports composite. He was ranked No. 5 in Texas and No. 32 nationally, regardless of position.
