Ahead of No. 1 LSU’s showdown at No. 2 Alabama, senior outside linebacker Michael Divinity has left the Tigers due to personal reasons.

Multiple sources told The Athletic on Monday that Divinity, who had missed three games this season for what were deemed “coach’s decisions,” has already had his nameplate removed from his locker.

Coach Ed Orgeron confirmed Divinity’s departure at his Monday press conference but did not rule out a potential return at some point this season.

“We are not going to close the door on that,” he said. “We will see.”

A two-year starter for the Tigers, Divinity had 23 tackles, a team-high three sacks and one forced fumble in five games this season.

He entered the 2019 season with 82 tackles, 14 tackles for loss and six sacks in 32 games (12 starts).

Junior backups Andre Anthony and Ray Thornton are expected to pick up more playing time.

“We should be fine,” Orgeron said.
