Mississippi State has reached an agreement in principle on a contract extension with head coach Dan Mullen that would run through the 2017-18 season, CBSSports.com reported Friday.

Mississippi State University regulations prevent contracts from running more than four years, so the contract proposal would add a year to the current deal.

Mullen reportedly makes nearly $3 million per year. He took the Bulldogs to four straight bowl games for the first time in school history.
