The Missouri Tigers will be down 12 players for next week’s season-opener against Alabama due to the impact of the coronavirus, coach Eli Drinkwitz said Wednesday.

Mizzou had seven active cases as of Saturday, and the latest count is based on Sunday’s testing, the St. Louis Post Dispatch reported. The team was tested again Wednesday, per the report.

Not all 12 are positive, per the report, but are impacted by quarantine periods and safety protocols of the program.

Further, Drinkwitz said wide receiver Maurice Massey and defensive tackle Chris Daniels have opted out of the season.

The Tigers host No. 2 Alabama on Sept. 26.
