The top two spots in the Associated Press and USA Today college football polls remained unchanged, but the rest of the top 10 was vigorously shaken as nine ranked teams lost this weekend.
The AP top 10 now includes, in order, Alabama (again with all 60 first-place votes), Oregon, South Carolina, Florida, West Virginia, Kansas State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, LSU and Oregon State.
The top three spots were identical in the USA Today coaches poll, but the Crimson Tide fell one vote short of being the unanimous No. 1 in that poll.
Oregon remained No. 2 and South Carolina moved up to No. 3 in both polls on the heels of a 35-7 victory over Georgia. West Virginia holds the No. 4 spot in the USA Today poll, while Florida is No. 4 in the media poll.
The shakeup marked the first time since Oct. 18, 2008, that nine AP ranked teams lost in the same week.
—Illini cornerback Terry Hawthorne, who had to be taken off the field in an ambulance after colliding with Badger fullback Derek Watt in the third quarter on Saturday, apparently is OK.

–UCLA football team reportedly has received a verbal commitment from center Scott Quessenbery of Carlsbad (Calif.) La Coast Canyon High School.
Quessenberry, who is rated as the fifth best center in the country by Rivals.com, chose UCLA over 15 other schools, ESPN.com reported citing multiple sources. He was offered scholarships by nine of the Pac-12 schools.
–Iowa Hawkeyes football coach Kirk Ferentz said Sunday three recently arrested players will be dealt with in accordance with the school’s code of conduct.
Cornerback Micah Hyde was arrested Saturday on a pair of misdemeanor charges, tight end Ray Hamilton was arrested early Saturday for presence on premise (licensed liquor establishment) after hours and offensive lineman Drew Clark was arrested for public intoxication Friday.
Ferentz did not release a timetable as to when or whether the players will face discipline.
–Temple defensive tackle Kamal Johnson was charged with kidnapping Saturday night in an incident that occurred last month involving his girlfriend, multiple media outlets reports.
NBC 10 in Philadelphia reported Johnson was also charged with unlawful restraint, simple assault, false imprisonment, and reckless endangerment of another person.
Johnson remains jailed in lieu of a $25,000 bond. Temple has not yet commented on the situation.
Johnson started the first two games for the Owls and has played in three.
