South Carolina quarterback Connor Mitch was released from Palmetto Richland Hospital in Columbia, S.C., on Tuesday after being treated for an internal infection.
A hip bruise suffered in a Sept. 3 win over North Carolina led to internal bleeding and the infection. Mitch was admitted to the hospital on Saturday night after the Gamecocks’ loss to Kentucky.
The university confirmed his discharge from the hospital on Tuesday.
Mitch also separated his right shoulder in the game against Kentucky and is expected to be out four to six weeks.
Perry Orth, a former walk-on, is expected to start at quarterback in Mitch’s place for the Gamecocks (1-1, 0-1) on Saturday night against seventh-ranked Georgia (2-0, 1-0) in a Southeastern Conference game.
