Four-star dual-threat quarterback Haynes King, the top uncommitted QB from the 2020 class, announced Wednesday he is committing to Texas A&M.

“(Aggies head coach) Jimbo Fisher, he’s proven to develop quarterbacks and put them into the (NFL),” King said, according to multiple media outlets, of the reasoning behind his decision. “He’s been very successful at that. He coaches you hard, and I’m used to that. He coaches you like you’re his son.”

King, of Longview (Texas) High, picked Texas A&M over Tennessee, after also visiting Auburn and Duke in recent weeks.

The 6-foot-2, 189-pounder is the third-ranked dual-threat QB and 79th overall player in the 2020 class in 247Sports’ composite rankings. ESPN rates him as the top quarterback — pro-style or dual-threat — and the 19th overall player in the class.

King threw for 3,879 yards with 42 touchdowns and four interceptions as a junior, while adding 664 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground plus one TD reception. His team went 16-0 and won the Texas 6A D-II state championship.
