Texas A&M has lost starting running back Jashaun Corbin for the rest of the season because of a hamstring injury, coach Jimbo Fisher said Monday.

Corbin was injured in Saturday’s 24-10 loss at top-ranked Clemson when he was pulled down from behind in the third quarter.

The sophomore, who was stepping into the starting role this season for departed Trayveon Williams, recorded his first career 100-yard game with 103 in the season-opening victory over Texas State. He had 34 yards on 13 carries against Clemson.

He tweeted: “God makes no mistakes. I’ll be back even stronger next year! In due time..”

True freshman Isaiah Spiller has been Corbin’s backup, rushing 14 times for 130 yards and also catching two passes for 22 yards. He ripped off an 85-yard run against Texas State.

No. 16 Texas A&M (1-1) hosts FCS opponent Lamar this Saturday.
