PLAYERS TO WATCH

–RB Trayveon Williams, the Aggies’ primary ball carrier, has 96 carries for 582 yards and six touchdowns so far in 2018. He’s averaging 6.1 yards per touch this fall, a solid average. Williams is second in the SEC in rushing and No. 8 in the FBS. He’s just the 17th Aggie in school history to surpass the 3,000 all-purpose yard mark in his career. Last week against Arkansas was Williams’ third consecutive 100-yard game and eighth of his career.

–P Braden Mann, in Week 4 against Alabama, set the NCAA single game record with a 60.8 yards-per-punt average on five punts, breaking a record originally set in 1983. Mann leads the FBS in gross punting with an average of 53.6 yards per attempt. He will be key in backing up Kentucky’s ground-control offense.

–TE Jace Sternberger is the FBS leader among tight ends in touchdown. The Northeastern Oklahoma A&M transfer has four scores this season and is one touchdown grab away from the Aggies’ school record of five catches for a touchdown by a tight end in a single season. So far in 2018, Sternberger has had at least one 20-plus yard catch in every game. He’s proven to be a reliable red zone threat and someone who can eat up chunks of yards.

SERIES HISTORY: Texas A&M and Kentucky have, surprisingly, never met as SEC foes. In fact, they haven’t played each other at all in 65 years. The two schools have only met twice, with the Aggies and Wildcats claiming one win apiece.

QUOTE TO NOTE: “I didn’t even know Kentucky was a top 15 team.” — Texas A&M wide receiver Camron Buckley.
