GLENDALE, Ariz. — Running back Chris Johnson, who signed a one-year contract with the Arizona Cardinals just before the start of training camp, said he was considering offers from at least two other teams before deciding to stay in Arizona for a third straight season. He indicated he had reason to believe he will see more playing time with the Cardinals than anyone else, even though he’s behind David Johnson on the team depth chart.

“Even though I said I wanted to go somewhere where I could possibly start or play more, I just feel like this year might be a little different,” Chris Johnson said. “Just a thought in my mind. That relationship I’ve got with B.A. (Bruce Arians) and the things me and him talk about made me feel it might be a little different.”

Arians said he has plans to use more of a two-back system this season and that Johnson and Johnson would be his main tandem.

“We’ve always wanted to have some two-back stuff,” Arians said. “We’ve had it in the plan every year and one of the two gets hurt all the damn time. But we’ll have some two-back stuff with he (Chris Johnson) and David back there. Same with Kerwynn (Williams) and Andre (Ellington) – all those guys have that position flexibility of being able to play receiver and running back.”
