Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan was diagnosed with a sprained right ankle on Monday, coach Dan Quinn announced.
Quinn said that Ryan will not take part in practice to start the week, however he said no determination has been made for his availability for Sunday’s game against the visiting Seattle Seahawks (5-2).
Ryan sustained the injury early in the fourth quarter of Atlanta’s 37-10 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.
The Falcons (1-6) trailed 27-3 when Ryan was sacked and stripped of the ball by Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald, who also recovered the fumble.
Ryan’s right leg appeared to bend awkwardly as he was brought down. The former NFL Most Valuable Player did not return to the game and was later spotted in a walking boot.
Ryan, 34, completed 16 of 27 passes for 159 yards with no touchdowns and one interception on Sunday. For the season, he is 202-of-285 passing for 2,170 yards with 15 touchdowns and eight interceptions.
Matt Schaub replaced Ryan and completed all six of his pass attempts for 65 yards and a touchdown.
