Buffalo Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins could be shut down for several weeks due to discomfort in his surgically repaired foot.

Watkins had foot surgery in 2015.

The New York Daily News reported Watkins’ foot was X-rayed on Sunday night after Buffalo lost its season opener at Baltimore. The tests showed no break, and a foot specialist recommended no surgery at this time.

However, the Daily News reported Watkins could be shut down to allow the discomfort to subside.

The injury becomes a pain management issue for Watkins.

Buffalo’s No. 1 receiver had four receptions for 43 yards against the Ravens.

Watkins, 23, has missed only three games since he was drafted in 2014, but myriad injuries — ribs, groin, hip, hamstring, calf and foot — landed him on the injury report or caused him to be removed from games.

The Bills managed only seven points at Baltimore and play Thursday against the New York Jets.
