New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas suffered a high ankle sprain in Sunday’s 34-23 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Thomas caught three passes for 17 yards in Week 1 and is planning to play through the injury, according to NFL Network.

Thomas led the NFL in receptions and receiving yards in 2019, setting a single-season record with 149 grabs.

The Saints have an extra rest day this week before playing the Las Vegas Raiders on “Monday Night Football.”

Thomas, 27, likely will not test his ankle on the practice field until late in the week. The Saints first hold a formal practice on Thursday, at which time head coach Sean Payton is obligated by NFL rules to provide an estimation of Thomas’ health.

If Thomas cannot play, the Saints could use veteran Emmanuel Sanders outside and adjust the depth chart behind him. Sanders caught a touchdown pass from Drew Brees in his Saints debut on Sunday.
