The New York Jets have agreed to a deal with free agent running back Le’Veon Bell to a four-year, $52.5 million contract, with $35 million guaranteed. The deal was first reported by ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
Bell, the top free agent on the market, sat out last season due to a contract dispute.
In 2017, Bell rushed 321 times for 1,291 yards and nine touchdowns. He also added 85 catches for 655 yards and two scores en route to earning All-Pro honors.
Bell, 27, is a three-time Pro Bowler (2014, 2016, 2017) and two-time first-team All-Pro — also earned the prestigious honor in 2014. When healthy, he is arguable the top running back in the league.
With the addition of Sam Darnold last season and Bell this offseason, the Jets now have one of the better quarterback/running back tandems in the league.
