Twins acquire RHP John Gant, LHP Evan Sisk from Cardinals

The Minnesota Twins acquired right-hander John Gant and minor league left-hander Evan Sisk from the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday in exchange for veteran southpaw J.A. Happ and cash considerations.

Gant, 28, is 4-6 with a 3.42 ERA in 25 games (14 starts) this season for the Cardinals. He is 23-21 with three saves and a 3.72 ERA in 159 career games (42 starts) with the Atlanta Braves (2016) and St. Louis.

Sisk, 24, is 2-0 with four saves and a 3.31 ERA in 26 relief appearances this season between Class-A Peoria and Double-A Springfield.

Happ, 38, is 5-6 with a 6.77 ERA and a major league-leading 74 earned runs allowed in 19 starts this season with Minnesota.

A World Series winner with Philadelphia in 2008 and an All-Star in 2018, Happ is 128-98 with a 4.13 ERA and 1,616 strikeouts in 343 career games (317 starts) with the Phillies (2007-10), Houston Astros (2010-12), Toronto Blue Jays (2012-14, 2016-18), Seattle Mariners (2015), Pittsburgh Pirates (2015), New York Yankees (2018-20) and Twins.
