The Chicago White Sox acquired right-handed reliever Ryan Tepera from the crosstown Cubs in exchange for left-hander Bailey Horn on Thursday.

To make room for Tepera on the 40-man roster, the White Sox transferred right-hander Evan Marshall to the 60-day injured list.

Tepera, 33, is 0-2 with one save, a 2.91 ERA and 50 strikeouts in 43 relief appearances this season.

“Ryan has been an extremely reliable bullpen arm this season and throughout his career,” White Sox general manager Rick Hahn said in a news release. “We are very pleased to add him to our talented and versatile group of relievers. Across his career with the Blue Jays and Cubs, Ryan has succeeded in a variety of situations and has the ability to get both lefties and righties out at very high rates.”

Tepera is 12-14 with 11 saves and a 3.54 ERA in 280 games (one start) with the Toronto Blue Jays (2015-19) and Cubs.

Horn, 23, is 2-3 with a 5.63 ERA and 45 strikeouts in 14 appearances (10 starts) between Class A Winston-Salem and Class A Kannapolis this season. He was drafted by the White Sox in the fifth round in 2020 out of Auburn.

Marshall, 31, has been on the injured list since June 30 with a strained right flexor pronator.
