The New York Yankees acquired left-hander Andrew Heaney from the Los Angeles Angels for two minor-league pitchers, manager Aaron Boone confirmed to reporters.

Heaney, 30, is 6-7 with a 5.27 ERA in 18 starts for the Angels this season. Overall, he is 30-36 with a 4.57 ERA in 109 appearances (107 starts) over eight seasons, the last seven with Los Angeles.

“I expect him to join the rotation,” Boone said. “We’re very excited to have him, a pitcher of his caliber that certainly provides some depth.”

The Angels will reportedly receive right-handers Janson Junk and Elvis Peguero.

Junk, 25, is 4-1 with a 1.78 ERA in 14 games (12 starts) for Double-A Somerset, while the 24-year-old Peguero is 4-1 with a 2.23 ERA in 21 appearances between High-A Hudson Valley and Somerset.

New York also added recent trade acquisitions Joey Gallo (Texas Rangers), Anthony Rizzo (Chicago Cubs) and Joely Rodriguez (Rangers) to the active roster. The club optioned right-hander Albert Abreu to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes Barre and designated outfielder Ryan LaMarre for assignment.
