The Atlanta Braves placed left-handed starter Max Fried on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a blister on his left index finger.

The Braves recalled right-hander Bryse Wilson from Triple-A Gwinnett to take his spot on the 25-man roster, and he was scheduled to start Tuesday night’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Fried, 25, began developing the blister during his start against the Brewers on Monday night, and gave up three hits while striking out five in five scoreless innings to earn the victory, as the Braves went on to win 4-2.

“I thought it was smart not trying to pitch through it,” Braves manager Brian Snitker told reporters after the game. “It was pretty significant. If he hadn’t have said anything and kept pitching, it probably would have torn open.”

Fried has compiled a 10-4 record with a 4.08 ERA in 21 games (19 starts) this season, with 102 strikeouts and 31 walks over 103 2/3 innings.

Wilson, 21, has started three games for the Braves this season, compiling a 1-0 record with a 6.14 ERA in four total appearances. At Gwinnett, he has a 4-7 record with a 4.67 ERA.
