The Boston Red Sox’s dwindling playoff hopes took another shot with left-hander Chris Sale potentially done for the season with left elbow inflammation.

Sale was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday, with general manager Dave Dombrowski admitting it could mark the end of Sale’s season.

The Red Sox are 17 1/2 games behind the New York Yankees in the American League East and 6 1/2 games out of the wild card picture. DraftKings is now offering the Red Sox at 9/1 to just make the playoffs, with their odds of repeating as World Series champions set at 50/1 by DraftKings and 75/1 by PointsBet.

Both sportsbooks are offering 40/1 odds on Boston winning the AL pennant, with DraftKings offering 25/1 odds on the Red Sox rallying to win the AL East and PointsBet offering the same bet at 33/1.

The Red Sox (65-59) have a three-game winning streak and have won six of their past 10 games.
