The Chicago Cubs on Saturday exercised their $16.5 million option on first baseman Anthony Rizzo for 2021.
Rizzo, 31, batted .222 with 11 home runs and 24 RBIs in 58 games in 2020.
The three-time All-Star is a .271 career hitter with 229 homers and 753 RBIs in 10 seasons with the Cubs and San Diego Padres (2011).
Chicago also declined its $3.5 million 2021 option for infielder Daniel Descalso, who receives a $1 million buyout.
Descalso, 34, injured his left ankle during summer camp and did not appear in any games in 2020.
He is a .235 hitter with 48 homers and 294 RBIs in 1,079 games with the St. Louis Cardinals (2010-14), Colorado Rockies (2015-16), Arizona Diamondbacks (2017-18) and Cubs (2019).
