The Chicago Cubs recalled utilityman David Bote from Triple-A Iowa and placed left-hander Derek Holland on the 10-day injured list with a left wrist contusion, the team announced Sunday.

Bote, who was demoted to Iowa on Monday, was summoned from the minors after first baseman Anthony Rizzo exited Chicago’s 7-2 loss to Washington on Saturday with mid-back tightness.

The 26-year-old Bote is batting .257 with 10 homers and 40 RBIs in 106 games with the Cubs this season.

Holland was on the receiving end of a comebacker by San Francisco’s Brandon Crawford during Wednesday’s game, a 12-11 win by Chicago.

The 32-year-old Holland, who allowed one run on one hit two days later vs. Washington, owns a 2-4 mark with a 5.74 ERA in 43 appearances (seven starts) this season.
