RHP Marshall to sign one-year deal with White Sox

Right-handed pitcher Evan Marshall agreed to a one-year, $2 million deal with the Chicago White Sox, avoiding arbitration.

Marshall, 30, was 2-1 with a 2.38 ERA in 2020. In 23 relief appearances, he had eight holds and 30 strikeouts, and opponents hit .198 (17 of 86) off of him.

The White Sox originally signed Marshall as a free agent on Oct. 30, 2018. In two seasons in Chicago, he has a 6-3 record and 2.45 ERA.

He’s pitched 166 innings over 179 games, all in relief, striking out 154. He has a career 3.96 ERA with the Arizona Diamondbacks (2014-16), Seattle Mariners (2017), Cleveland Indians (2018) and White Sox.
