The Chicago White Sox activated right-handed reliever Kelvin Herrera from on the 10-day injured list on Sunday, following a rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte.

Herrera had been sidelined with a right oblique strain, dating back to July 18. He made three appearances, including one start, during his rehab stint.

He replaces righthander Jose Ruiz, who was sent back to Charlotte following Saturday’s 3-2 win over the Oakland A’s.

Herrera, 29, is in his first season with the White Sox and is 3-3 with a 7.36 ERA in 38 appearances.

Ruiz, 24, is 1-2 with a 5.45 ERA in 34 games for the White Sox this season.

After splitting the first two games, the White Sox face the A’s in their series finale on Sunday afternoon.
