The Chicago White Sox finalized a one-year deal with veteran outfielder Adam Eaton, who will return to the team he played for from 2014-16.

Eaton will earn $7 million in 2021, and the team will hold an $8.5 million option for 2022 with a $1 million buyout, the White Sox said Thursday.

The White Sox traded Eaton to the Washington Nationals in December 2016, receiving pitchers Lucas Giolito, Reynaldo Lopez and Dane Dunning in return. Chicago traded Dunning to the Texas Rangers this week as part of the deal for pitcher Lance Lynn.

Eaton hit .279 with 15 homers and 49 RBIs in 2019, helping the Nationals to a World Series title.

Washington declined their option on the 32-year-old after he hit a career-low .226 in 41 games this past season.

In his career, Eaton is a .282 hitter with 60 homers and 289 RBIs in 831 games with the Arizona Diamondbacks (2012-13), White Sox and Nationals.
