The Cincinnati Reds put starting pitcher Sonny Gray on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a right groin strain.

The team recalled right-handed pitcher Art Warren from Triple-A Louisville.

Gray left his start Tuesday prior to the start of the fourth inning. The right-hander felt a pull in his right leg after the first warmup pitch with the pain increasing on subsequent warmups.

“The first thing in my head was, ‘The smart thing would be to stop. The smart thing to do would be to stop, so you’re not missing eight, 10 weeks here,'” Gray said after the game.

Gray is 1-4 with a 3.42 ERA in 10 starts this season. He has 65 strikeouts in 50 innings pitched.

Warren has pitched in two games for the Reds this season, throwing two hitless innings with two walks and two strikeouts.
