The Cincinnati Reds placed right-hander Tyler Mahle on the 10-day injured list Monday with a strained left hamstring.
He suffered the injury Friday during his start against the St. Louis Cardinals. Mahle allowed four runs on seven hits in 5 1/3 innings in Cincinnati’s 12-11 loss.
Mahle, 24, is 2-10 with a 4.93 ERA in 19 starts this season. He has struck out 106 batters and walked 26 while giving up 18 homers in 102 1/3 innings.
The Reds recalled right-hander Sal Romano from Triple-A Louisville in a corresponding move.
Romano, 25, is 4-7 with a 4.70 ERA in 35 games (three starts) at Louisville this season. He was 8-11 with a 5.31 ERA in 39 games (25 starts) for the Reds in 2018.
