The San Diego Padres traded right-handers Chris Paddack and Emilio Pagan to the Minnesota Twins in exchange for left-hander Taylor Rogers and outfielder Brent Rooker.
The Twins will receive a player to be named later and the Padres will receive cash considerations.
Paddack, 26, finished 7-7 with a 5.07 ERA in 23 games (22 starts) last season. In three seasons, all with the Padres, he owns a 20-19 record with a 4.21 ERA in 61 games (60 starts). He has struck out 310 batters in 308 innings.
Pagan, 30, was 4-3 with a 4.83 ERA in 67 relief appearances for the Padres in 2021. He is 13-10 with 22 saves and a 3.73 ERA in 244 games with the Seattle Mariners (2017), Oakland A’s (2018), Tampa Bay Rays (2019) and Padres.
Rogers, 31, made the All-Star team in 2021 and was 2-4 with a 3.35 ERA and nine saves in 40 bullpen appearances. He struck out 59 batters in 40 1/3 innings. He is 17-18 with 50 saves and a 3.15 ERA in 319 games with the Twins since 2016.
Rooker, 27, batted .21 with nine homers and 16 RBIs in 58 games in 2021. He made his debut in 2020 and played in seven games with Minnesota, who drafted him in the first round in 2017.
