Chris Heisey hit a three-run homer in the ninth inning to lift the Washington Nationals to a 9-7 victory over an Atlanta Braves split squad on Thursday in a spring training game in Viera, Fla.

Washington starter Stephen Strasburg gave up two runs and five hits in four innings and the Nationals also got two-run homers from Ryan Zimmerman and Wilson Ramos and a bases-empty shot from Jayson Werth. Freddie Freeman homered twice for the Braves.

Royals 5, Dodgers 1

Kendrys Morales hit a two-run homer off J.P. Howell in a four-run fifth inning that propelled Kansas City over Los Angeles in Glendale, Ariz. Royals starter Kris Medlen gave up one run and three hits in four innings.

Yankees 7, Pirates 2

Rob Refsnyder homered and had three RBIs and Starlin Castro hit a long home run in the fifth inning for New York against Pittsburgh in Bradenton, Fla. Yankees starter Masahiro Tanaka gave up four hits and two runs in two innings, including Andrew McCutchen’s third home run in four games for the Pirates.

Reds 8, Indians 6

Devin Mesoraco homered in his only at-bat during his return from hip surgery and threw out a runner trying to steal second base as Cincinnati downed Cleveland in Goodyear, Ariz. Jay Bruce and Scott Schebler also homered for the Reds and Jason Kipnis hit a three-run homer for the Indians.

Astros 5, Braves 3

A.J. Reed belted a three-run homer and Danny Worth added a two-run blast to carry a Houston split squad over Atlanta in Kissimmee, Fla. Williams Perez pitched three scoreless innings and Nick Swisher had an RBI for the Braves.

Mariners 11, Athletics 11

Robinson Cano hit a two-run homer and Rob Brantly also homered for Seattle in a tie with Oakland in Mesa, Ariz. Danny Valencia led the A’s with a homer and three RBIs and Coco Crisp contributed a two-run double.

Astros 7, Blue Jays 5

Carlos Correa and Preston Tucker homered for Houston against Toronto in a split-squad game in Kissimmee, Fla. Michael Feliz worked three shutout innings in his first start for the Astros and Josh Thole had two hits and two RBIs for the Blue Jays.

Rays 6, Phillies 1

Logan Forsythe, Steve Pearce, Richie Shaffer and Mikie Mahtook hit home runs and Matt Moore had eight strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings to lead Tampa Bay over Philadelphia in Clearwater, Fla. Vince Velasquez gave up one run and had seven strikeouts in five innings and Ryan Howard homered and doubled for the Phillies.

Mets 6, Marlins 5

Jacob deGrom gave up one hit in three innings and Jose Fernandez pitched two scoreless innings before faltering as New York edged Miami in Jupiter, Fla. Fernandez allowed six earned runs in 3 2/3 innings, leaving after giving up a run-scoring double to Travis d’Arnaud in the third inning and a bases-loaded single in the fourth that drove in two runs.

Red Sox 9, Orioles 5

Sam Travis hit a three-run homer and finished with two hits and RBIs for Boston against Baltimore in Fort Myers, Fla. Christian Walker hit a three-run homer in the third inning for the Orioles.

Tigers 5, Cardinals 4

Miguel Cabrera, Jacoby Jones and Nate Schierholtz homered and Mike Pelfrey pitched five scoreless innings for the second game in a row to fuel Detroit’s win over St. Louis in Lakeland, Fla.

Angels 4, Rockies 4

Cliff Pennington went 2 for 3 with an RBI and Hector Santiago struck out six for Los Angeles in a tie with Colorado in Scottsdale, Ariz. Tom Murphy led off the third ining with home run for the Rockies and Johnny Giavotella had a two-run double in the first for the Angels.
