Spring Scores: Miami pitchers look sharp in shutout

Jose Fernandez pitched five no-hit innings and Miami pitchers gave up just one hit in a 3-0 victory over Boston Red Sox on Tuesday in Jupiter, Fla.

Giancarlo Stanton had his first RBI of the spring for the Marlins and Marcell Ozuna delivered two hits and two runs. Blake Swihart had the Red Sox’s lone hit with two outs in the eighth inning against Craig Breslow.

Twins 5, Orioles 1

Joe Mauer belted his first homer of the spring to lead a Minnesota split squad past Baltimore in Fort Myers, Fla. Mauer’s two-run shot came in the first inning and Trevor Plouffe had a two-run homer in the fifth for the Twins.

Astros 8, Braves 7

Carlos Correa hit a two-run blast for his third homer of the spring and Houston beat Atlanta in Kissimmee, Fla. Jose Altuve contributed three hits and two RBIs for the Astros and Freddie Freeman had two RBIs for the Braves.

Twins 7, Phillies 5

Daniel Palka hit two bases-empty home runs to help a Minnesota split squad defeat Philadelphia.

Blue Jays 16, Tigers 1

Troy Tulowitzki hit a home run and had five RBIs and Darrell Ciciliani added a homer for Toronto against Detroit in Lakeland, Fla. Tigers starter Daniel Norris left after getting just one out when he experienced tightness in his lower back.

White Sox 8, Giants 7

Jimmy Rollins’ third home run of the spring and Travis Ishikawa’s tiebreaking, three-run homer in the sixth inning sent Chicago past a San Francisco split squad in Glendale, Ariz. Brandon Belt and Miguel Olivo also homered for the White Sox and Austin Jackson socked his first home run of the spring for the White Sox.

Cubs 9, Reds 6

Jason Hammel gave up one earned run and three hits in five innings and Anthony Rizzo homered for the second time in spring training to help Chicago beat Cincinnati in Goodyear, Ariz. Devin Mesoraco hit his second spring homer for the Reds.

Angels 6, Athletics 5

Andrelton Simmons lashed a two-run homer, Geovany Soto homered and Mike Trout and Daniel Nava each had RBIs for Los Angeles against Oakland in Tempe, Ariz. Angels starter Hector Santiago worked into the seventh inning before giving up three of Oakland’s five runs and Danny Valencia hit his fifth homer of the spring for the A’s.

Rockies 6, Brewers 5

Nolan Arenado, Charlie Blackmon and Gerardo Parra hit home runs to power Colorado past Milwaukee in Scottsdale, Ariz. Rockies rookie starter Jon Gray suffered an abdominal injury after facing three batters and left the game.

Padres 17, Rangers 5

San Diego pounded Texas starter Colby Lewis for nine runs in the first four innings, Derek Norris hit a two-run homer and a two-run double, Jabari Blash homered and Cory Spangenberg and Alexi Amarista each had two RBIs to lead the Padres past the Rangers in Peoria, Ariz. Padres starter Andrew Cashner gave up two runs in six innings and Hanser Alberto hit a three-run homer for the Rangers.
