Spring Scores: Tigers’ Sanchez knocked around

Although the Detroit Tigers beat the Tampa Bay Rays 9-4 in a spring-training game in Lakeland, Fla., on Friday, Tigers starter Anibal Sanchez did not have the outing he would have liked.

Sanchez yielded seven hits and two walks while giving up four earned runs in 4 2/3 innings.

Tigers outfielder Anthony Gose provided much of the offense, going 3-for-3 with his second homer of the spring while driving in three runs and scoring two.

Rays starter Matt Moore allowed only one hit in his three innings of work, but he gave up three walks and a three-run homer.

Astros 4, Brewers 2

Milwaukee starter Matt Garza left after 3 1/3 innings because right shoulder tightness in the Brewers’ loss in Houston. Before leaving Garza allowed one run and three hits.

The Brewers’ Ryan Braun homered for the second straight game.

Houston starter Mike Fiers gave up two runs and five hits while striking out seven and walking none in 5 1/3 innings.

Braves 2, Rays (ss) 2

Atlanta starter Jhoulys Chacin gave up one run and three hits while striking out two in 4 2/3 innings in his final spring start in Kissimmee, Fla.

Adam Wilk pitched four innings, giving up five hits and two runs.

Dayron Varonahad two hits for Tampa Bay, and Adonis Garcia had two hits for the Braves.
