Spring training scores: Cosart, deGrom sparkle

New York Mets starter Jacob deGrom lowered his ERA to 0.90 as he went four scoreless innings and struck out five in a 2-1 loss to Miami.

Marlins starter Jarred Cosart was equal to the task as he extended his scoreless streak to 9 2/3 innings, striking out four and scattering just three hits in 3 2/3 innings.

The Marlins scored both of their runs in the eighth inning with Robert Andino stealing third and coming around when Kevin Plawecki’s throw sailed into left field.

Nationals 5, Astros 3

Wilson Ramos and Cutter Dykstra belted home runs to lead Washington past Houston, who outhit the Nationals, 12-8.

Rafael Martin earned his second win of the spring despite blowing a save by giving up two runs on three hits in two innings.

Red Sox 4, Cardinals 3

Clay Buchholz went 4 2/3 innings, scattered five hits and gave up one run and Jackie Bradley drove in a pair as he raised his average to .393. The Cardinals made it close with Jeremy Hazelbaker’s two-run homer in the ninth, but Bobby Poyner came in to strike out Carlos Peguero to end the game.

Braves 7, Pirates (SS) 3

Jhoulys Chachin earned his first win this spring as he struck out five in 3 1/3 innings and Atlanta pounded out 14 hits.

Atlanta battered Pirates starter Francisco Liriano for four runs on seven hits in 3 2/3 innings.

Pirates (SS) 2, Twins 0

Pittsburgh’s Juan Nicasio struck out eight and remained unscored on in 15 innings in five starts this spring. Chris Stewart scored on a throwing error in the third and Jacob Stallings added an insurance run in the ninth on an infield single to score Elvis Escobar.

Phillies, 4 Tigers 3

Philadelphia starter Aaron Nola pitched six innings and gave up two hits while Detroit’s Anibal Sanchez made his spring debut and went four no-hit innings.

Sanchez walked David Lough, the first batter he faced but then recorded 12 straight outs. Cedric Hunter’s two-run homer in the seventh was the difference.
