Houston Astros designated hitter Yordan Alvarez is out of the lineup Wednesday due to “health and safety reasons,” according to manager Dusty Baker.

No other information has been provided at this time other than Alvarez being the only affected player.

Alvarez was previously placed on the COVID-19 injured list on April 14 and missed four games before making his return to the lineup on April 20.

The 23-year-old slugger has gotten off to a hot start, hitting .309 with two home runs and 14 RBI in 18 games.

The Astros host the Seattle Mariners Wednesday. Michael Brantley will slot into the DH spot in Alvarez’s place, while Chas McCormick will move to left field.
