Left-hander Sam Selman, who was acquired in a trade by the Los Angeles Angels on Friday, was added to the active roster Saturday in advance of the team’s game against the Oakland Athletics.

Selman, 30, was acquired from the San Francisco Giants, along with right-handers Ivan Armstrong and Jose Marte, for veteran left-handed reliever Tony Watson.

Selman has just 41 games of major league experience, all in relief over the last three seasons with the Giants. He is 1-1 with a 4.06 ERA lifetime and had a 4.50 ERA in seven appearances this season.

The Angels originally selected Selman in the 14th round of the 2009 draft, but he did not sign and elected to enroll at Vanderbilt. The Kansas City Royals selected him three years later in the second round.
