Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Jeremy Jeffress was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday with an ailing left hip, the team announced.
The Brewers called up fellow right-hander Ray Black to replace Jeffress, who reportedly expressed discomfort after each of his last three outings.
Jeffress has posted a 3-4 record with one save and a 5.02 ERA in 48 relief appearances this season.
The 31-year-old was an All-Star last season when he went 8-1 with 15 saves and a 1.29 ERA in a career-high 73 appearances.
Black, who has a 6.23 ERA in four trips to the mound this season, has made two appearances with Milwaukee since being acquired from San Francisco prior to the trade deadline.
