Brewers sign LHP Anderson to one-year deal

The Milwaukee Brewers announced Friday that they signed left-hander Brett Anderson to a one-year deal.

ESPN reported that Anderson’s deal is worth $5 million. He could make an additional $2 million in performance bonuses.

The 31-year-old Anderson set a career high for victories last season went he went 13-9 with a 3.89 ERA in 31 starts for the Oakland Athletics.

Last season marked just the third time the injury-prone Anderson made 30 or more starts in a season since reaching the majors with the Athletics in 2009.

Overall, he is 59-61 with a 4.05 ERA in 188 career appearances (176 starts) with the Athletics (2009-13, 2018-19), Colorado Rockies (2014), Los Angeles Dodgers (2015-16), Chicago Cubs (2017) and Toronto Blue Jays (2017).

Anderson underwent Tommy John surgery in 2011 and back surgeries in 2014 and 2016. He also has experienced various arm injuries during his career.
