The Minnesota Twins designated veteran right-hander Homer Bailey for assignment on Friday.

The 34-year-old Bailey made just two starts for the Twins this season and went 1-0 with a 3.38 ERA. He missed most of the season with a biceps strain but returned Tuesday to allow one run and two hits in three innings against the Detroit Tigers.

Bailey, who has pitched two no-hitters during his 14-year career, is in his first season with the Twins. He is 81-86 with a 4.56 ERA with the Cincinnati Reds (2007-18), Kansas City Royals (2019), Oakland Athletics (2019) and Twins.

Minnesota recalled right-hander Edwar Colina to fill the roster spot. The 23-year-old hasn’t pitched in the majors.

Also, designated hitter Nelson Cruz (knee) is slated to return from a four-game absence when the Twins host the Cincinnati Reds on Friday night. Cruz is batting .314 with 16 homers and 32 RBIs in 50 games.
