New York Mets outfielder Michael Conforto was placed in the 10-day injured list Thursday with hamstring tightness, effectively ending his season.

Conforto, 27, batted .322 with nine home runs and 31 RBIs in 54 games, a year after he hit 33 home runs with 92 RBIs.

The Mets entered play on Thursday with a 25-31 record and were 3 1/2 games out of the final playoff spot in the National League. While not officially eliminated from landing a playoff spot, the chances of making the postseason field were highly unlikely.

In six seasons, all with the Mets, Conforto is a .259 hitter with 118 home runs and 341 RBIs. He earned a prorated $9.7 million salary this season and will be arbitration eligible for the final time in 2021.

To fill his spot on the active roster, the Mets recalled infielder Luis Guillorme.
