A huge four-game series with the Los Angeles Dodgers is on deck for the San Francisco Giants. And with the teams separated by just one game, the Giants are getting back two of their stars, catcher Buster Posey and right-handed pitcher Kevin Gausman.

Posey was brought off the IL and Gausman was activated from the family medical emergency list Monday, making both players available for the critical series.

A seven-time All-Star, Posey was knocked out when a foul ball hit his glove in a July 4 game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Posey, 34, was batting .328 with 12 home runs and 28 RBIs prior to going out with the injured thumb.

Gausman (9-3) was expected to pitch the opener of the St. Louis series last Friday before leaving the team for a family emergency. He was slated to start Monday’s game at Los Angeles against the Dodgers’ Tony Gonsolin.

Gausman, a 30-year-old All-Star, has posted a 1.73 ERA this season in 18 starts. He has 133 strikeouts compared to just 30 walks.

In less positive news for the Giants, the team was forced to put another All-Star, Brandon Crawford, on the IL with an oblique strain. The injury occurred in the shortstop’s final at-bat Sunday.

Crawford, 34, is batting .286 this season with 58 RBIs and 18 home runs.

To make space for Gausman and Posey, the Giants optioned Chadwick Tromp and Caleb Baragar to Triple-A Sacramento.
