The Texas Rangers signed outfielder Nate Schierholtz on Friday to a minor league contract that included an invitation to spring training.
If the 30-year-old veteran lands a spot on the major league roster, he will make $1.75 million in 2015.
Schierholtz split last season between the Chicago Cubs and Washington Nationals, finishing with a .195 batting average, seven home runs and 37 RBIs.
In 799 career games with the San Francisco Giants, Philadelphia Phillies, Cubs and Nationals, Schierholtz has a .253 average with 52 homers and 228 RBIs.
