Nationals avoid arbitration with INF Difo

The Washington Nationals and infielder Wilmer Difo avoided arbitration Sunday by agreeing to a one-year, $1 million contract for 2020, USA Today reported.

The 27-year-old batted .252 last season but played in just 43 major league games. He had two homers and eight RBIs.

In 67 minor league games across two levels, Difo batted. 283 with four homers and 23 RBIs in 2019.

Difo received 332 at-bats in 2017 when he batted .271 and had 408 at-bats in 2018 when he hit .230.

Overall, Difo has a .250 career average with 15 homers and 78 RBIs in 361 games over parts of five seasons with Washington.
