The Atlanta Hawks reportedly obtained veteran guard Kirk Hinrich from the Chicago Bulls for a second-round pick on Thursday.
ESPN initially reported the deal and it was confirmed by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The Hawks made the trade shortly after moving reserve point guard Shelvin Mack to the Utah Jazz.
Atlanta re-acquires Hinrich five years after getting him from the Washington Wizards at the trade deadline. Hinrich was initially obtained by Atlanta in a deal for Mike Bibby but he was injured in the first round of the playoffs and missed the series with the Chicago Bulls.
In his only full season for the Hawks, Hinrich averaged 6.6 points and 2.8 assists per game after missing the first 18 games of the 2011-12 season following left shoulder surgery.
Hinrich, who began his career with the Bulls, returned to Chicago on a two-year deal in July 2012 and re-signed with the Bulls on a two-year deal two years later.
When the Hawks did not retain Hinrich, it opened a starting spot for Jeff Teague. Now the 35-year-old will join Dennis Schroder as one of Teague’s backups.
This year with the Bulls, Hinrich averaged 3.8 points in 35 games. In 868 career games, Hinrich has averaged 11 points and 6.8 assists.
